About Global Standard gGmbH:

Global Standard gGmbH is a self-funded non-profit organisation registered in Germany, dedicated to setting and maintaining the highest standards for the textile industry currently through their Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).  The organisation is in the process of developing a second sustainability standard for textiles.  We are committed to promoting sustainability, quality, and ethical practices across the textile supply chain. 


Position Overview 

We are seeking a skilled Implementation Specialist as part of the Global Standard’s Standard Development Unit to play a key role in formulating, revising, and implementing certification policies and procedures to ensure compliance with sustainability standards. This remote position offers the flexibility of working from home and requires a self-motivated individual who excels in proactively collaborating with a diverse, global team.

We seek a proactive candidate who values the freedom to operate autonomously and has relevant experience with Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) and / or certification bodies, as well as strong coordination skills across various stakeholders including internal teams and externals like Certification Bodies, to drive the adoption of standards and continuous improvement.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Policies, Procedure Development and Implementation: Coordinate and lead the development, timely review + revision, and implementation of certification policies and procedures, in accordance with Standard Requirements such as:

  • Certification requirements and procedures
  • Scope and Transaction Certificates
  • Letters of Approval
  • Labelling and Claims
  • Operational procedures and guidelines for certification bodies


Interpretation of Standard Requirements:
Analyse  and interpret standard requirements to ensure policies and procedures align with evolving compliance criteria.


Stakeholder Support and Implementation Coordination:
Serve as a central point for internal and external inquiries, related to providing clear guidance on policies and procedure implementation and compliance with certification criteria.


Qualifications:

  • Completed formal studies (ideally in the textile field) with proven hands-on competence in the textile industry.
  • Direct hands-on experience working with policies, procedure development and implementation of Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) - ideally within a certification system or an implementing certification body - is essential.
  • Competency in project management with the proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse global teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with hands-on experience in formal correspondence.
  • Familiarity with sustainability standards and certification processes. Knowledge of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and its requirements is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex regulatory policies and procedure frameworks.


Additional Skills:

  • Familiarity with Office 365 tools, including Teams. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, for effective documentation and communication.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Comfortable in a remote working environment, self-motivated, and capable of managing time effectively.
