Society of Dyers and Colourists EC, India organized an Expert Lecture in PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, India. GOTS Representative in India Mr. Sumit Gupta, who also an associate (ASDC) of SDC, UK was invited as an external expert. The lecture was held on 12th September, 2015. The audience comprised of students of B.Tech Textile Technology from the institute.
As Mr. Gupta is also an Hon. Trustee of SDC EC, he started with a small introduction of SDC and its activities in India. This was followed by technical presentation on the subject, “Compliance and Certification requirements in Organic Textiles”. Mr. Gupta informed the students about hazardous chemicals in conventional textile processing and associated health risks. He also spoke about some certifications in field of sustainable textiles like GOTS, OCS, GRS etc. as well as the traceability of products along textile supply chain. Furthermore, he encouraged students to take up research projects that are focused on environment friendly materials and processes.
