EWB Consulting Founder Ely Battalen is a Sustainability Consultant and Educator, specializing in organic textiles. He is an official Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) consultant. EWB Consulting has worked with both major brands and small startups internationally, at every link in the chain of custody. From cotton gins, knitters and weavers, to cut and sew, dye houses and printer finishers. Ely has over a decade of experience consulting, performing audits and creating standards for sustainable programs around the world. He has worked in a broad range of industries including textiles (GOTS, GOLS, OCS), bio-fuels (ISCC), seafood (MSC) and recycled commodities (GRS). Ely is ISO-9001 qualified and is a member of the Organic Trade Association and the Textile Exchange. Ely grew up on an organic farm in the Berkshire Hills of New England. He has always been passionate about sustainability from the moment he could join his family in the harvest and the preparation and preservation of food. He received his undergraduate degree from Middle Tennessee State University, studied music production and is fluent in German. He is based in New York City.
