Responsible, Standard Development and Implementation (home office)
Reports to: GOTS Managing Director
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria.
We are a non-profit organisation and are looking for a Responsible, Standard Development and Implementation who will operate from home with occasional travel.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Standard Development:
- Collect and evaluate topics for upcoming revisions of the Standard.
- Coordinate the meetings of the Standard revision committees.
- Organize formal revision process based on current practices.
- Development of GOTS policies related to Transaction & Scope Certificates.
- Implementation of the GOTS Standard:
- Provide official interpretations of the GOTS Standard and Policies to GOTS Approved Certification Bodies (CBs) on an on-going basis.
- Provide guidance to CBs, GOTS colleagues and others.
- Contribute to CB trainings.
- Be a single point contact for CBs.
- Plan and coordinate CB webinars and training.
- Coordinate annual meetings of the Certifiers Council.
- Keep the GOTS website updated with interpretations and related information.
Standard Comparisons and Benchmarking platforms:
- Identify important systems, provide data and keep them update on a regular basis (ITC, WWF, SLCP etc.) to improve our ratings.
Benchmarking GOTS:
- Set up and regular update of internal knowledge database regarding other standards, among others, to identify lacks for own standard develop
ISEAL:
- Continuously analyse and further develop how GOTS can and shall use the ISEAL Framework.
Your qualifications and experience:
- Formal technical qualifications in the textile or related field (degree).
- Familiarity with the global system of Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) and frameworks such as ISEAL and guidelines such as OECD.
- Excellent knowledge of the GOTS Standard, certification system and related standards.
- Knowledge of textile manufacturing processes and production regions.
- Understanding of environmental and social criteria requirements based on current global requirements.
- Understanding of audit procedures during certification.
- Ability to work and operate independently and coordinate actions under supervision of the GOTS Management.
- Willingness to travel as and when necessary.
- Willingness and ability to learn and innovate within the position.
- Excellent written and oral communication, intrapersonal skills.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
