Global Standard Regional Representative – Middle East & North Africa

Location: Remote (Global) with occasional international travel

About Global Standard

Global Standard gGmbH is a self-funded non-profit organisation registered in Germany, dedicated to the development and implementation of Voluntary Sustainability Standards for the textile industry currently through their Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The organisation is in the process of developing a second sustainability standard for textiles. Our work focuses on contributing to sustainable development through comprehensive standards that address environmental, social, and economic challenges. across the entire textile supply chain. 

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Regional Representative in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) to expand awareness, engagement, and adoption of GOTS/GRTS in the region.

Key Responsibilities

Market Engagement & Promotion:

  • Actively engage with textile and apparel brands, retailers, manufacturers, and suppliers in the MENA region to promote GOTS/GRTS
  • Organise and participate in promotional/educational events (seminars, fairs, webinars).
  • Provide consultancy and orientation for companies seeking GOTS&GRTS certification.

Representation & Advocacy

  • Represent Global Standard at industry trade fairs, academic conferences, and governmental events.
  • Liaise with policy makers, NGOs, and trade associations to advocate for organic and sustainable textiles.
  • Support GOTS&GRTS visibility in regional media (consumer-oriented and trade press).

Education & Outreach

  • Deliver lectures and workshops at universities, schools, and industry platforms.
  • Raise awareness among consumers about the value and reliability of GOTS&GRTS
  • Collaborate with the Global Standard Marketing Unit on region-specific campaigns.

Networking & Coordination

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the textile value chain.
  • Facilitate connections between certified entities and potential partners.
  • Support Global Standards’ global strategy by sharing regional insights and feedback.

Qualifications

  • University degree (Bachelor/Master) in textile management, sustainability, environmental science, business administration, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience (CSR, sustainability management, textile production, quality assurance, certification, or related).
  • Strong knowledge of textile supply chains, sustainability standards, and international norms.
  • Affinity with sustainable innovations and organic textiles.
  • Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English (French is a plus).
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent public speaking, networking, and intercultural skills.
